Vaclav Riedlbauch belongs to the comparatively numerous generation of composers who entered Czech musical scene in the early seventies. His work includes 12 orchestral pieces, an organ concerto and numerous chamber and vocal works for various kind of ensembles, pieces for children and pedagogical music. His full-length ballet Macbeth, premiered in 1984 at the New Stage of the National Theatre, was played in Prague for six seasons. The National Theater Ballet also performed the work at festivals in Czech lands and in Germany and Italy. He is a member of various music organizations, such as the Artistic Committee of the Prague Spring International Music Festival, Czech Radio Competition „Concertino Praga", Leoš Janáček Foundation, Brno, the Prague Autumn International Music Festival - Foundation. Riedlbauch initiated a festival of contemporary orchestral music in Prague - "Prague Premieres", which had been held annually for six years (2004 - 2009).
