Zdenek Bartosik studied composition at the Music Conservatory in Ostrava (with Ladislav Kajstura), at the Conservatory in Topoľčany D. Kardos (with Paul Walker), and since 2005 at the Academy of Music in Prague (with Prof. Ivan Loudova).
He won second prize in the International Composition Competition held to mark the centenary of Miloslav Kabeláč and Olivier Messiaen\'s birth (a piece for solo piano Images). Other awards include second prize of Five Miniatures for piano and the third prize for Calligrams (for chamber ensemble) in the A tempo competition 2008.

His compositions were premiered by Chamber Philharmonic Pardubice, South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in Olomouc, as well as by many soloists such as Lenka Kozderková (flute), Marketa Mazourová (drums), Catherine Malkova (organ), Alena Fryščáková (flute), Zdenka Košnarová (piano), Jan Dusek (piano), Jan Keller (cello), Ondrej Hás (violin).
