Following his early training as a violinist and pianist he studied composition with Bohuslav Rehor at the Prague Conservatoire (from 1993). In 1997, while continuing his studies in composition, he also began to study conducting with Jaroslav Vodnansky and Miroslav Kosler. While he was at the conservatoire, he broadened his creative experience and gradually molded his musical speech into a more personal and distinctive form. In 1999 he completed his studies at the Conservatoire, his composition Three Reminescences for string orchestra and percussion was performed at his graduation concert. That same year, the piece was awarded 2nd Prize at the Generace competition for young composers. He then attended the composition class of Vaclav Riedlbauch at the Musical Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and in 2002, he completed his bachelor's degree and two years later he finished his university studies. The majority of his creative work falls into the classical music genre. In 2000 he was the youngest composer on the programme of the 55th annual Prague Spring International Music Festival, where his composition Recollection - Hommage to Zdenek Fibich for string orchestra was given its first performance. He has been involved in two prestigious international compositional events: he took part in the international festival of contemporary music Silk Sound Road in Kyrgyzstan in the autumn of 2001, and then he was awarded a scholarship at the Hamburg's Musikhochschule, where he studied with W. A. Schultz for six months. He was then employed as music editor at the publishing house Editio Bärenreiter Praha, and since October 2005 he had been helding a scholarship at the Musical Faculty for a PhD in composition with Ivan Kurz (Ph.D., 2009). Apart from composing the music for concert halls, Martin Hybler is also a prolific composer of incidental music for theatre and he arranges music for various ensembles, such as Barock-jazz kvintet, Ensemble Martinu, JAZZ-BAND F. Slovacka a.o.
