Petr Wajsar is a composer, singer, piano, guitar and bass-guitar player, and a lyricist. He graduated in music composition from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he studied with professor Václav Riedlbauch. He also graduated in music composition and modern popular music arrangement from the State Conservatory in Prague, where his teachers were Angelo Michajlov, Milan Svoboda and Michal Pavlíček. For a brief period of time, Petr was also a student in the class of professor Stanislav Jelínek at the Conservatory of Jaroslav Ježek. His music ranges from symphonic and chamber compositions to jazz and the popular genre.
Petr not only creates orchestral and chamber pieces on demand, but he also composes for original ensembles like HI-FI, EWaVe and Mandelbrotovy kostičky. Besides writing his own music, he works as an arranger in cooperation with a number of other composers, especially with Michal Pavlíček. Recently he created a full-length orchestral ballet Maryša for the City Theater Plzeň (CZ). Currently, Petr is working on the musical Pornohvězny (Porn Stars) in cooperation with the scriptwriter Petr Kolečko and the director Tomáš Svoboda.
The recording of Petr's piece "emitgaR" represented the Czech Radio at the International Tribune of Composers in 2001. His work "Drum'n'Berg", written for the Berg Orchestra, received the listeners' award in the composition contest Nuberg 2007 and reached the top list in the semifinals of the ISC 2008. Petr has been given the prize of "The Most Performed Young Classical Music Composer in 2008" by OSA, the Czech authors' association.
